Who do I need to write to if I oppose this scheme and what should I write?

There are many reasons for objecting to this scheme. On this page we have listed key people that you might like to write to about your concerns. To help you structure your letters we have also included some of the points you could include.

1. A120 and Colne Road JunctionM

Currently the A120 is extremely busy. In addition the Colne Road junction is badly planned, dangerous and the location of many serious accidents every year.

2. East Street, West Street used as a short-cut

There is a very possible risk that if a roundabout is added to the Colne road junction, drivers will use the East– West Street route through Coggeshall village to avoid traffic queues.

3. The proposed pedestrian bridge

The proposed bridge over the A120 providing access to the playing fields could be very dangerous, for example objects could be thrown from the bridge onto the road. The bridge will have to be open 24 hours a day, otherwise people might try to cross the road by foot to access the playing field.

4. The impact on local services

Currently the Coggeshall Doctors’ Surgery and Primary School are operating close to capacity. There is no definite provision in the plan for them to expand to accommodate an increased population.

5. Swimming pool and Scout hut

The existing swimming pool is a charity run, not for profit pool built by members of the village community. The proposed new build will result in its demolition; the volunteers who run the pool were not consulted about this. The Scouts were not consulted about the future of their new hut, this is sited on the old school site and they paid for half of it. Money was raised to build the pool by having planned monthly activities such as sponsored events, rummage sales, big band and supper dances.

6. Drainage and sewage

The proposed development will have an impact on the drainage and sewage systems of the whole village. The proposal does not adequately show how this will be addressed.

We are lucky in having the best resource possible, the backing of our community. With individuals of many trades and varying years in experience we have formed the CCAG to combat the poorly thought out plans for our village.
